Making sense of things

How can I understand things that is happening around me?
I need to look and not just see, listen and not just hear. Easier said than done? ....Exactly.

Seems that everything that comes in writing, its all easier said than done.
Maybe I should place things in their perspective. Do something easy and then further extend it with greater complexity.
I used to manage hundreds of people from different walk of life. Those days, I am a planner and an operator. Planning things and making sure that the environment is in my favor upon execution. Even if I am emotional disturb, it will be a strategic phase of the overall plan.
As an operator, I got first hand to witness my plan translated into reality...
I was in the game.

Leaning what I have Learned

I have observed my slower reflexes. They say we are like an OLD eagle. Seeing more than chasing.
I saw younger people focusing on time waster. I saw mature people taking for-granted situations.
I experienced misunderstanding when things are obvious. Being mislead and knowing it.

What have I learned;
1. Importance of Knowledge

Introspective Assessment

After exposure to Bokuta Waza. It became very obvious on the window of opportunities for a good clean slice. From then on, I felt the urge to re-look at counter measures using non lethal methods.

What have I learned;
1. To be more wise
2. To exploit on long term gains
3. The spirit of benevolence or mercy

Understand every moment

As age catches up with me...
I got pain in places that I never imagine. The best about this is that I cannot recall from where or what leads to these pains.
Nonetheless, I still anticipate a chance to practice martial arts.
It is now more spiritually fulfilling. Things like blocks have become deflects and speed has become timing.
I guess you need to age to realise what your sensei means by "mindless body"

What Have I learned;
  • Take advice seriously
  • The meaning of wisdom
  • Being humble

Enduring Relationship

Its just a wooden sword... whats the big deal. Actually, it is not a "BIG" deal...

Just another reminder of experiences of pain on the fingers and yess.. the knock on the head when i am not up to standards.

Ironically, i treasure that piece of wood... with the edges all splinters and jagged..

What have i learned
  • Treasure the moments
  • The importance of sacrifice
  • Remember people who help you grow

Keeping the sword sharp

I never knew that the sharp end of the sword gets damage or even breaks when the sharp end of another sword hits it.

Just like everybody else, sword fighting were seen mostly in movies.

All that change the moment I actually get a 'hands on'.

What have I learned.
  • Never assumed
  • Don't Judge
  • Walk the talk
It was so scary... the first time to experience a fast coming strike.
I was confused... my mind was not fast enough to control my emotions...

...LOOK AT IT COMING... I remember... 'words of wisdom from my sensei..'
...A weak mind block all experiences...

What have I learned.
  • Controlling my emotions
  • Staying Calm
  • Face the problem
Now I understand that little bit...

... Martial Arts may also be describe as a way for individual to discover himself and his environment.
